Bogor, West Java. A Dutch tourist was found dead on Monday morning in a hotel room in the West Java town of Bogor.
The cause of death was not immediately clear, but 65-year-old Bob Hartog from Amsterdam was found dead with blood oozing from his mouth in Room 301 of the Abu Pension Hotel on Jalan Raya Mayor Oking in Bogor.
Police officers also found some medication and beer cans in the room.
Bogor Police chief detective Adj. Comr. Dikdik Purwanto said a member of the hotel’s cleaning staff found Hartog’s body at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
“The hotel staffer at first knocked on his door several times, but there was no answer,” Dikdik said.
He added that the hotel employee became suspicious because Hartog had complained the day prior that he was feeling ill and had gone to a clinic to see a doctor.
“The victim complained about his illness to his friend Gavin Townshen, a foreign national from Britain who was staying in Room 302,” Dikdik said.
The cleaner used a spare key for Hartog’s room and discovered his lifeless form on the bed.
“To discover the cause of the death, we immediately took the victim’s remains to Kramat Jati National Police Hospital in East Jakarta for an autopsy,” Dikdik said.
He added that Hartog arrived in Indonesia with a tourist visa and checked into the Bogor hotel on Saturday.
