The Jakarta Post, Jakarta, Monday September 22 2014,
West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police head Brig. Gen. Sriyono said that the arrest of six suspected terrorists on Saturday in Bima, NTB, allegedly had connection with a Poso-based terrorist network led by Santoso, who had been noted in the police’s most wanted list (DPO).
He said that according to an initial investigation, the six arrested men were not linked with the shooting of several police officers frequently happening over the last few months in NTB.
He said that out of six men, three, like Santoso, had been noted in DPO.
Sriyono said that Santoso allegedly had trained militarily the six arrested men at his headquarters in Poso, Central Sulawesi.
“We allege that they were involved in terrors in Dompu [West Nusa Tenggara],” he said as quoted by kompas.com.
In January 2013, the police’s counterterrorism squad Densus 88 killed five terror suspects in raids in Dompu. After the raid, the squad confiscated one motorcycle and two firearms.
Sriyono said that the police were still conducting further investigation to the six suspected terrorists.
In addition, he said, during the raid on Saturday, another suspected terrorist, namely Nurdin, was shot dead by the police because he took the fight against them.
