Four people have died after drinking fake imported liquor of the Red Label and Black Label brands on Sunday in a boarding house in Langensari subdistrict, West Ungaran district, Semarang regency, Central Java.
The first victim was Joko Waluyo, 31, alias Jack, who collapsed in front of his room, followed by Ahmad Feriyanto, 22, of West Ungaran, then Amina, 25, of Pati regency, followed by Al Fattah. The police are investigating the case. The number of victims may rise, as more than 10 people drank the alcohol.
The Central Java Police’s medical department said the cause of death was due to consuming fake, imported alcohol, based on victim autopsies at the Disaster Victim Identification Unit, Bhayangkara Police Hospital, Semarang.
“The victims died of alcohol poisoning,” said medical department chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Hastry Purwanti in Semarang on Wednesday.
