The bodies of the remaining 50 victims from the Trigana Air plane crash in Oksob, Pegunungan Bintang regency, Papua, have arrived in Jayapura.
They were brought using three aircraft from the Oksibil Airport to the Sentani Airport in Jayapura on Thursday afternoon.
A search and rescue team began gathering the bodies on Wednesday night and placed them in the the public hospital of Pegunungan Bintang regency.
At the Sentani Airport, the bodies were put into caskets and brought by ambulance to the Bhayangkara Hospital, where they will undergo an identification process led by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from the Papua Police. The Papua DVI team will be assisted by the DVI team from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri).
Previously, four victims' bodies were evacuated on Wednesday evening.
The Trigana Air PK-YRN aircraft, flight number IL 267, lost contact on Sunday afternoon and was found "completely destroyed" after it crashed into Mt Tangok in Pegunungan Bintang regency. The ATR plane had 5 crew members and 49 passengers on board, including three children and two babies.
