Eleven possible human-trafficking victims arrested in Puncak

Eleven female sex workers from Morocco were arrested on Wednesday by the West Java Police in Puncak, Cisarua, Bogor regency.
Allegedly victims of human trafficking, the women were reportedly kept in a villa and in two cafes in Cisarua.
"Their ages are between 20 and 30," said West Java Police public relations head Sr. Comr. Sulistio Pudjo on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
Around a year ago, the Bogor Immigration Office revealed similar business in the area, when 19 female sex workers from Morocco were arrested and deported.
According to Bogor Immigration Office supervision and enforcement head Dimas Adhy Utomo, the Moroccan sex workers had been hired out only to foreigners, especially from the Middle East.
"If the customer is a local man, he will be rejected," said Dimas.
He said the reason that local men were rejected was concerns that the women's identity and the prostitution business would be revealed. Their fees were also quite high, he said, between Rp 4 million (US$291) and Rp 5 million for a short amount of time.
"If the customer agrees with the fee, then the woman would be sent to the agreed location," said Dimas. (kes)
