East Java’s capital Surabaya will see the construction of six new hotels next year, confirming its status as a developing center for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, also known as MICE, in Indonesia.
Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants Association (PHRI) Surabaya branch head Bambang Hermanto said Thursday in Surabaya that the six new hotels would be three-, four- and five-star hotels.
The new constructions will be the Bumi Hotel, the Santika Hotel, the Sahid Hotel, the Discovery Hotel, the Aryaduta Hotel and the Aston Hotel, he said.
The six new hotels will increase the number of hotels in Surabaya to 81, Bambang said, as quoted by kompas.com.
“The large number of hotels signals that Surabaya is still considered an interesting city to investors. It is often called a friendly industrial city.”
Bambang said he was optimistic more guests would stay at hotels in Surabaya given that the hotels would undergo service standardization next year.
