Shocking new details have emerged about the rape of a teenage girl in a karaoke parlor in an upscale mall in South Jakarta.
Central Jakarta Police chief detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Firman said the victim, PT, 19, was at a karaoke party at Senayan City with four men last Tuesday when she was allegedly raped by the suspect, KI, 23, in the toilets attached to the group’s room.
The suspect is the younger brother of the victim’s boyfriend.
Firman said all were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the alleged sex attack.
“The victim said she was raped by KI. We have interrogated him but we haven’t questioned his friends,” Firman told the Jakarta Globe.
Even though the other three men did not take part in the rape, Firman alleged that they circulated photos of the naked victim via Blackberry Messenger.
“We will question the suspect’s friends because we believe they were the ones who circulated the nude photos. Their initials are PR, RA and RU,” Firman said.
At least one other news organization quoted Firman as saying that the alleged rape was the result of a bet.
Firman said after the attack, the suspect and his friends drove the victim home to her house in South Jakarta, telling her parents that she had just been robbed.
However, her parents grew suspicious because their daughter looked “depressed and withdrawn.”
It took her four days to tell her parents what had happened and report the attack to police.
