Reduced visibility due to smoke from forest fires led officials on Sunday to delay flights in and out of Sultan Thaha airport in Jambi, Central Sumatra.
“Due to limited visibility, all flights serving the Jambi route have been rescheduled,” airport cheif Abiyoso said on Sunday as quoted by Antara.
Separately, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency’s (BMKG) Jambi office chief, Remus L. Tobing, said that the region was at the peak of its dry season.
Fires in neighboring provinces had added to the smoke blanketing Jambi, he added.
