An alleged pedophile arrested in Batam over the weekend apparently spread nude pictures of his under-age victims on the Internet, allowing the police to trace him.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Saud Usman Nasution said officers under the police’s child protection and cyber crime units found the pictures after scanning the Internet several days before making an arrest.
He said that officers found nude pictures of Indonesian children and established that the pictures had been uploaded from Batam after communicating with the alleged perpetrator, HFP, 61 and a British national, via the Internet.
The police then arrested HFP at his residence in Nagoya, Batam, on Saturday evening.
“He did not fight when we made the arrest because we found evidence at his house,” Saud said on Sunday in Jakarta, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The evidence, he explained, included a plastic bag of sperm and pictures of children, most of who were believed to be under 12. HFP, a private employee, had allegedly had sex with these minors.
HFP allegedly paid the street children Rp 200,000 (US$22) each for sex and the nude pictures.
Saud said that there were at least five children that had become victims of HFP since 2004.
He added that HFP had also allegedly taken nude pictures of his own 9-year old daughter.
The daughter, as well as HFP’s son, 7, and Javanese wife, 36, were at home at the time of the arrest.
