The Bogor Regency Livestock and Fishery Agency says it plans to create a “hotel” especially for cows to provide facilities for the animals to stay overnight before being sold in a nearby market.
“This hotel is for unsold cows. Taking them home would be a waste of money, especially for those from outside the region. Therefore it would be better to have the cows stay there until the next market day,” agency chief Soetrisno said on Wednesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He explained that owners would not need to worry about their cows going hungry or not being cared for because everything including the cows’ food and accommodations would be handled by the hotel.
“All they [the owners] need to do is pay. Of course, the price would be based on agreement,” he said.
He said that the idea of making a livestock market and hotel was inspired by a local market owned by local residents where cows from Lampung, Central Java, East Java and West Java were bought and sold every Thursday.
