A major fire broke out in a dense residential area in Muara Baru, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon, burning down 150 houses, although no casualties were reported.
“We have extinguished the fire after deploying 25 fire engines to the location,” North Jakarta fire brigade head Nurdin Silalahi said on Thursday as quoted by Antara news wire.
They fought the fire for two-and-a-half hours. Victims of the fire were evacuated to an area near the location. It was reported that the fire was started by an electrical short circuit in one of the houses.
