A pilot was killed on Saturday when his plane fell into a ravine after it skid off a slippery runway while landing at Okbibab Airport in Bintang Mountains regency, Papua, according to the police.
“We received the report just this morning. The passengers are safe and sound but the pilot was killed,” Papua Police spokesman Sr. Comr.Wachyono said on Saturday as quoted by tempo.co.
The plane, owned by the Aviation Missionary Association (AMA), carried four passengers who were injured in the crash: Yakob Uropmabin,Timotius Uropmabin, Ramly and Radi.
The passengers and the body of the pilot, identified as Arnold Burung,were brought to Dian Harapan Hospital in Jayapura, Wachyono said.
