Tribunnews.com/Yogi GustamanJAKARTA: City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Wednesday that the police had solved 386 cases and arrested 396 suspects in a 10-day street crime operation in Jakarta, from Feb. 4 to Feb. 13.
“We also confiscated more than Rp 63 million [US$7,056] in cash, along with 20 firearms, 25 sharp weapons and 69 vehicles as evidence,” Rikwanto told a press conference.
The operation was conducted by a joint team comprising officers from the Jakarta Police general crimes directorate and crime detectives from the police offices of the city’s five mayoralties.
Rikwanto said that the operation would be continued for another 10 days.
Police data shows that Tangerang regency had the most criminal cases that were resolved in the operation, at 53 cases. Bekasi regency had the least, with 17 cases.
Vehicle theft remained at the top of the crime list, with 106 cases handled in the operation.
