Bogor. Two people are dead and four more are missing after torrential rain triggered a landslide in the West Java town of Bogor on Tuesday morning.
Seven houses were buried when the landslide hit Cibogor village, located in the subdistrict of Megamendung, around 6 a.m.
Aris, 55, and Hendi, 12, were killed, four more victims were buried, and two were critically injured.
“We’re still trying to evacuate three other victims who are buried,” National Disaster Mitigation Agency [BNPB] chief Syamsul Maarif said on Tuesday as he inspected the location.
Nurdin, the head of the local neighborhood unit, said the missing victims were asleep when the incident happened.
Syamsul said the affected houses were situated on a ravine with a 20-meter-high cliff nearby.
