Some 20,000 families in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, whose houses were flooded since Friday, are still waiting for assistance from the government, tempointeraktif.com reports.
“We've admitted there were some technical problems hampering the distribution of food and medical aid. But we plan to disburse them today [Monday],” Samarinda administration spokesman H.M. Faisal said.
He added the administration had instructed all officials to open flood mitigation and health posts in affected villages and districts.
“We expect all posts to be in full operation by Monday,” he said.
The flood also caused airport authorities to shut down Termindung Airport. (ewd)
