The Jakarta Post, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, Tuesday, October 08 2013,
The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Immigration Office has deported two Malaysian women staying in Lombok for a while without having any immigration documents, raising the number of deported from the province to 19 so far this year.
An officer at the immigration office, M. Indra, said in Mataram on Tuesday, that the two women entered Lombok with their husbands, who were Indonesian migrant workers from NTB.
Their whereabouts could not be detected as they arrived in Lombok in a group of problematic migrant workers, who were deported from Malaysia last April, Indra said.
"The two were married with men from Central Lombok and once lived with their husbands in the Praya district," he said.
Last August, however, the two women went to the Mataram Immigration Office to report their illegal stay in Indonesia, Indra said. They claimed to have been cheated by their husbands, who said during their stay in Malaysia, they were from rich families with large land areas and other precious belongings.
The fact was far from what their husbands said earlier as in reality, they lived in poverty. Before getting married and going to Lombok, the two women thought they would be able to live a happy life.
As the two women in their 20s could not stand the heavy burden of staying with their lying husbands, they demanded that they be returned to their country of origin, Indra said.
"The two women were deported to Malaysia earlier this month," Indra said without giving details on their names.
A similar incident was recorded in West Lombok last year, when a Malaysian, who was married to a local migrant worker, claimed to have been cheated by her husband.
Other people deported from NTB this year included those from the Netherlands, Germany, Australia and Japan.
