Lovie Special Achievement Awards were presented by the Academy at The 3rd Annual Lovie Awards Winners’ Party on 13th November 2013 at St Luke’s Church in Old Street London.
Lifetime Achievement - Vic HayesThe Lovie Awards was thrilled that Founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales honoured Vic Hayes, known to many inside and outside the tech community as the "Father of Wi-Fi," with a Lovie Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions and guidance while chairman of the IEEE committee that created the 802.11 standard radio frequency for broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.
His work helped to usher in the age of the ubiquitous Internet, providing users with Ethernet-free connections and a brand new sense of connected mobility. That freedom led to countless innovations in hardware and software that have set the standard for the modern Internet age. We are proud to honour Vic Hayes as this year’s Lovie Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
