TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said he will increase grant for Bogor regency government to demolish illegal villas in Puncak area. Last year, grant from Jakarta was Rp2.1 billion.
"However, because there are more villas to be demolished this year, the grant will be increased to Rp5 billion," Jokowi said after observing reservoir construction at Mega Mendung District, Bogor Regency yesterday.
Illegal villas in Puncak are accused of causing flood in Jakarta as they reduce water absorption areas. The Bogor government itself has temporarily stopped demolishing villas due to rainy season.
"The villas are located in the area where heavy equipments cannot reach during rainy season fearing it would cause shifting ground," Bogor regent Rachmat Yasin said.
According to him, the first target is to demolish 93 illegal villas of 31 owners. "There are 93 villas of 31 owners from 400 identified buildings and those owners are not Bogor citizens," Rachmat said.
