Medan. Police detectives and forensics specialists continued to investigate the owner of a migrant worker placement agency on Friday after more skeletal remains were found buried beneath his house in Medan, North Sumatra.

Police were not able to confirm if the latest remains were human at the time of writing.

“The team is investigating the skeletal remains found,” Medan Police Chief Insp. Gen. Eko Hadi Sutejo said on Friday. “If those are indeed human skeletal remains, they will be examined further to see if they are linked to the murders.”

Samsul Anwar, the owner of the migrant worker placement agency, was arrested on Thursday after police raided his warehouse. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murders of three migrant workers. Samsul and his wife, Radika, as well as their son, driver and three employees have been arrested by police.

On Oct. 31, a woman’s body was discovered under a bridge in Kabanjahe, about two hours from Medan. She had been physically abused, police said.

A week later police found the body of another woman under a bridge in Medan. She was identified as 25-year-old Yanti from Bekasi.

Police have linked both findings to Samsul, whom local media have reported may have police connections and may have been involved in organ trafficking.

No hard evidence of this has so far emerged and police are saying only that they are making progress with the investigation.

One witness said he frequently saw an ambulance parked outside Samsul’s house.

“I saw it going back and forth from the house more than once at night,” said Sanusi, 50.

The police investigation continues.
