Police arrest Condet gas station robbers

Only a day after the robbery of the Total gas station on Jl. Raya Batu Ampar in Condet, East Jakarta, the Jakarta Police have arrested the two suspects robbers and recovered Rp 217 million (US$24,087) in cash.

Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that one of the suspects was a police officer with East Jakarta.

“We've apprehended two suspects with initials J and R. R is an officer with East Jakarta of the Brigadier rank,” Rikwantos said.

According to Rikwanto, J, who works at a workshop, was arrested in Kampung Makassar, East Jakarta.

Rikwanto said that the police had recovered all of the money taken by the suspects.

“They had no chance to split the money among them and spend it as we managed to arrest them beforehand,” Rikwanto said as quoted by kompas.com.

“We found the money buried in a location,” Rikwanto said without detailing the location.

J and R, brandishing a pistol and an iron bar, shot a staff member at the gas station before fleeing with the cash on Monday morning.
