Madiun - An earthquake shook Madiun , East Java, Thursday evening, June 25. Around 58 homes in Klangon Village were damaged after the earthquake. “From our survey shows 7 homes were moderately damaged, while 51 others experienced slightly damages,” Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Madiun, Eddy Hariyanto, said.
Saradan Precinct Police Chief, Adj. Comm. Martinus Tjanu, said the material losses caused by the quake that occured at 10:35pm has not been assessed as identification process are still conducted until Friday, June 26.
According to Martinus, the condition is under control now, and residents insist to remain in their homes eventhough the walls are cracked.
Data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency shows yesterday’s 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7.73 degrees South Latitude and 111.69 degrees East Longitude. The epicenter was in 12km southeast of Madiun District with a 10km depth. The quake was felt by some residents of Caruban and Nganjuk.
