The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police have arrested five suspects allegedly involved in a syndicate that anesthetized Indonesian female migrant workers, locally called TKW, before robbing them.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police detective unit chief Adj. Comr. Azhari Kurniawan said on Friday that the five suspects were identified as TSR, HDR, DD, AG and HR.
“We arrested the suspects in different locations based on a report from a TKW, initial R, in August,” said Azhari as quoted by wartakotalive.com, adding that the five had been arrested in the airport, on a toll road and in Magelang, Central Java.
According to the Azhari, the group gave R a drink containing anesthetic chemicals, leaving her unconscious for three days. The suspects took her money and jewelry and left her on a roadside in Temanggung, Central Java. He added that one of the suspects had been shot in the leg after attempting to escape arresting officers.
