Fire destroys dozens of shop-houses in Aceh

Fire at a commercial area in Pepayungen, Central Aceh, Aceh, on early Tuesday destroyed at least 56 shop-houses. Three were injured and at least 169 people were affected in the incident.

Local police chief Second Insp. Suprihadi told Antara that the fire started at an electronic shop at around 3:00 a.m.

“We are still investigating the cause of fire, but preliminary investigation shows that it was caused by a short circuit.

The fire quickly spread among the decades-old building, mostly made of wood.

Dozens of families have taken refuge to a local mosque and their relatives' houses.
