August 05, 2010
Bali. A Dutch tourist was found dead hanging from the ceiling of his hotel room in the Kuta Beach Club hotel on Jalan Bakung Sari Kuta, Bali, on Wednesday.
Johannes Henricus Damasus Maria Reijbroek, 60, checked in to room 297 at the hotel on Tuesday but did not check out the following day.
At 5 p.m. on Wednesday a security officer knocked on his door but there was no response.
“I knocked and knocked but he didn't come out so I asked a receptionist to help me break the door open,” the officer told Kompas.com.
Inside they found the tourist's body hanging from the ceiling on a nylon rope.
Officers from Kuta Police who processed the crime scene did not find any wounds or suspicious marks on his body.
“His hands and feet were bound with duct tape,” said Kuta Police Chief Adj. Comr. Wimboko.
The body was taken to Sanglah General Hospital for an autopsy.
“We cannot say whether he died from suicide or from a foul play before the autopsy finishes,” Wimboko said.
