The West Jakarta District Court handed down a 10-year prison sentence to Luthfi Haidaroh alias Ubaid for his role at a military-style training camp for terrorists in Jalin village, Jantho, Aceh Besar.
Ubaid, also known as the treasurer of Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT), led by firebrand Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, was proven guilty of collecting training funds.
“We sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison, reduced by the detention period,” presiding judge Mutarto said in his verdict on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Mutarto said that Ubaid had organized the collection of money, including that from Ba'asyir, which amounted to Rp 1 billion and US$5,000 to supply the logistics for the training.
Separately, the court also handed down a 10-year prison sentence to Ubaid's friend, Qomarudin alias Mustakim alias Abu Yusuf, for his role as a trainer at the camp.
Qomarudin said he would file an appeal on the verdict.
