1,000 people living with HIV in Aceh: Govt

Aceh Deputy Governor Muhammad Nazar said there were around 1,000 people in the province living with the HIV virus, and 81 with AIDS.
Nazar attributed the spread of HIV/AIDS to a growing drug abuse problem among the local population.
He said prisons were among hotspots spreading the virus.
“Across the province, at least 60 percent of inmates have been convicted for drug-related offenses,” Nazar said Thursday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
