Ba'asyir's attorney sentenced to seven days for contempt of court.
South Jakarta District Court judges sentenced Made Rahman, terror suspect Abu Bakar Ba'asyir’s attorney, to seven days in jail for contempt of court on Friday.
“[We] punish [Made] with a jail sentence of seven days and a court fee of Rp 2,000 [23 US cents],” judge Singit Elier said.
The judges said Made had voiced his objections too emotionally in court.
Made argued that his voice was naturally high-toned. The judges responded that Made should not have spoken in such a way given his professional experience.
While the court was still in session, Made apologized to the judges and the police for causing a commotion, tempointeraktif.com reported.
“I apologize if I caused a ruckus. But, I did not intend to disrupt the court,” he said, adding that he would file an appeal.
( a fine of US$ 0.23 for contempt of court?)
