Three high-school students from SMA Negeri 1 senior high school in Nganjuk, East Java, died after they failed to surface during a school’s diving practice at Widas Dam in Madiun, East Java, on Saturday.
The students, Hilda Agustin, Dea Atma and Zahky, died after falling into a 3-meter depth reservoir.
Their remains were soon rushed to Saradan Community Health Center in Madiun for an autopsy.
Saradan Police chief Adj. Comr. Sentot Sudjito reasoned the unknown depth of the reservoir and the students’ fatigue resulting from a series of activities undertaken prior could be contributing factors to their death.
“We are still investigating who should be held responsible for this accident,” he said as quoted by news portal tribunnews.com.
