Two shot dead after rally outside Medco facility

Two people, including a student, were shot dead during a demonstration outside a production facility belonging to PT Medco in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi over the weekend.

Students and residents were caught in a clash with Luwuk Police and production facility security guards on Sunday.

The two reportedly died when Luwuk Police opened fire on a boat demonstrators were using while returning home after the rally.

Five other students are currently in intensive care recovering from injuries they sustained following the clash, as reported by tribunnews.com.

The whereabouts of several other students, who reportedly fell into the water, are currently unknown.
