A 15-year-old girl was raped and forced to consume methamphetamine while kept hostage for 11 days, police said on Monday.
Jakarta Police Spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said a 40-year-old man, identified only as T.T., was arrested in his rented home in Blumbang, Bogor, on Saturday.
“The victim in this abduction case was just 15 years old. She was kept hostage for 11 days,” Baharudin said, adding that the man became acquainted with the victim at a Bogor mall on Aug. 24.
“The victim was allowed to have a good time, and was then taken to a place in Bogor and kept there for 11 days,” the spokesman said.
Comr. Ardianto Tedjo Baskoro, who heads the mobile detective unit of the Jakarta Police, said that while keeping the victim hostage, the man forced her to consume methamphetamine.
“When she was found, the victim was under the influence of drugs,” Ardianto said, adding that the victim was repeatedly raped while intoxicated.
The mother of the victim reported her daughter missing to the police after a friend of the girl contacted her saying that the victim was seen purchasing drugs with a man in Kampung Ambon, West Jakarta.
During a search of the man’s home, police found equipment for consuming methamphetamine. Urine tests on the detained man and his victim indicated they had taken the drug.
Ardianto said T.T. would face criminal charges including deprivation of liberty, a crime carrying a penalty of at least five years in jail.
He added that T.T. may also face special charges under the Child Protection Law due to the age of his victim.
He said that although the arrest was made by the Jakarta Police, the case was being handled by Bogor because the abduction occurred in that city, where the detained man also lived.
