The East Java administration will dispatch 500 public order officers and veterinarians to the border of East Java and Central Java to anticipate an outbreak of anthrax in the region, said East Java governor Soekarwo, on Thursday.
The governor added that his province, home to one of the highest cow populations in the country, should raise its awareness after an outbreak had been detected in Boyolali, Central Java.
“We must seek to ensure that all animals entering the province are free of the anthrax virus, especially those coming from Central Java,” said Soekarwo in Surabaya, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
