An Indonesian maid who asked for 22 months of overdue pay from her Malaysian employer received a slap in the face instead, the China Press reported on Saturday.
According to the Chinese-language daily, 22-year-old maid Siti was slapped last week by her employer, a teacher in the Damansara area of Kuala Lumpur, after requesting 11,000 ringgit ($3,500) owed for her work.
After the incident, Siti fled the teacher’s home and filed a complaint with police, saying it was not the first time she had been attacked by her employer, the paper reported.
“I never meant to complain to the police. I just hope they can help me get my hard-earned money from my employer so that I can return to my country,” Siti said.
