An unidentified woman jumped from the Semanggi cloverleaf bridge in Central Jakarta on Friday afternoon.
First Brig. Takim from the Tanah Abang Metro Police was quoted by tribunnews.com as saying that the victim, a middle-aged woman, jumped from the bridge at around 3:30 p.m. and landed on Jl. Sudirman.
She was reportedly still breathing faintly despite suffering severe injuries to the head, abdomen and legs.
“She had no ID on her. There was some money in her purse and a receipt from BCA for money deposited in an account under the name of Magfani Ichsani,” he said.
The police rushed the victim to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta in an effort to save her life.
Dedi, a shopkeeper who witnessed the incident, said he saw the victim hit a Transjakarta bus and an SUV before landing on the road.
