A 7.1-magnitude earthquake has struck in the Banda Sea off Indonesia.
The quake, which struck at 5.53am (NZ time), was centred 229 km northwest of Saumlaki at a depth of 157.7 km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said it was not issuing a tsunami warning because the quake was too deep to trigger a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
"We have not received any damage report so far," Suhardjono, head of the quake and tsunami unit at the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, told AFP.
The quake, according to US Geological Survey, was reportedly felt to the north in the city of Amahi on nearby Ambon, and also to the southwest in Dili, East Timor.
Indonesia is located in the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where earthquakes and volcanic activity are common.
