Following the huge waves, strong winds and heavy downpours, the tourist area of Kuta Beach is expecting mountains of garbage carried there from adjacent areas, said an official.
“We have placed Kuta Beach on the fourth alert stage considering the huge amount of trash coming in to the beach area,” explained I Putu Eka Merthawan, head of Badung Landscape and Sanitation Agency, on Friday.
As many 21 staff members would work to clean up the beach. In addition, local beach guards and community members would also work together to keep the beach clean.
The agency also plans to operate 100 additional trucks to transport the garbage to the waste processing plants in Suwung, Denpasar.
