National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia plans to strengthen its low density high yield routes by connecting several regional points in Sumatra and Kalimantan this year.
President director Emisyah Satar said the airline was set to link Balikpapan, East Kalimantan to Denpasar, Bali; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Manado, North Sulawesi and Berau, a new growing tourism destination in East Kalimantan.
"We are going to connect the new points by using the Bombardier CRJ 1000 NextGen aircraft. We plan to take delivery of seven Bombardier this year," Emisyah said recently.
Besides Balikpapan, he said that the airline plans to connect Bandung with Denpasar and Batam with Pekanbaru this year.
"We will also fly to new destinations: Bengkulu, Tanjung Pandan and Tanjung Pinang from Jakarta," he said.
