Idul Fitri Death Toll Reaches 471 as Mudik Travelers Return

At least 471 people died in Idul Fitri-related traffic accidents during this year’s mudik exodus police said as return traffic peaked on Sunday.

The National Police recorded more than 2,000 accidents involving thousands of vehicles by Sunday, National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto told the state-run Antara News Agency.

More than 740 people were seriously injured in accidents. Most involved sleepy drivers, Agus said.
