The Health Ministry has confirmed that the 57 year old North Sumatra resident suspected of having contracted Ebola following his return from Nigeria tested negative for the viral disease.
"We have completed the PCR [polymerase chain reaction] test on [blood] samples taken from the patient in his second and third day [in hospital]. All tested negative for Ebola," the ministry's Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) chief Tjandra Yoga Aditama told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
NN, a resident of Tanjung Morawa in Deli Serdang regency, was admitted to Adam Malik Hospital in Medan on Sunday with a suspected infection of the Ebola virus.
He died on Tuesday night.
