Lhokseumawe Police officers in Aceh are guarding a bomb blast site where eight people were injured in Ujong Pacu, Muara Satu district, Lhokseumawe, on Saturday.
Lhokseumawe Police chief Adj.Sr.Comr.Anang Triarsono said on Tuesday that the police were pursuing the perpetrators of the bombing and a number of police officers were on standby in the village where the incident occurred.
He further said that the police knew the identities of the bombers. They also questioned five witnesses, who were also victims of Saturday evening’s bomb blast.
Ujong Pacu village head Abu Bakar said the situation in the village had returned to normal and villagers were carrying out their daily activities.
“However, some villagers are still searching the village for the bombers and drug dealers suspected to have masterminded the incident. Police personnel are still present in the village,” said Abu Bakar.
One of bomb blast victims, Muhammad Thaib, is undergoing medical treatment at PT Arun Hospital.
As reported earlier, two home-made bombs exploded at about 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday. The bombs, with a diameter of 30 centimeters, were wrapped in black plastic bags. Eight villagers were injured in the incident and taken to PT Arun Hospital for treatment.
