Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera spokesman Osama Saeed in his email responding to tempointeraktif.com on Friday admitted that it indeed received early information regarding a bombing plan in Tangerang.
“Al Jazeera got the information on April 7 that a bomb would explode two weeks from now by a group of terrorists,” Saeed said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Saturday.
However, Saeed continued that the station had finally decided not to follow up the information as it considered that the information was somehow unclear, despite them considering the source credible.
Later on it was revealed that the information was offered by the terrorist group led by Pepi Fernando, an amateur documentary filmmaker, through Imam Firdaus, Global TV cameraman. Both Pepi and Imam were now questioned by the police regarding the bombing plan.
National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said the police planned to summon Bobby Gunawan, Al Jazeera’s cameraman, to cross check the information they received from Imam Firdaus, who admitted to the police that he was the one who brought the offer to Bobby.
