One dies after boat catches fire

A teenager died and two crew members were wounded after oil freighter KLM Antasasi caught fire and exploded in Sumenep, East Java, on Monday.

Antara reported that the teenager killed in the incident was Jumaat who was fishing when the freighter exploded.

“The victim was my neighbor. There was an explosion when the boat razed,” resident Kasman said.

Meanwhile, two crew members, Mustafa and Ahmadiansah, were brought to the regional public hospital while the fate of another two, M. Nur and Ashadi, is unknown.

Local policemen have yet to confirm the cause of the accident. (ewd)
