Boy, 12, Arrested for Sex Attacks on at Least Four Young Victims

ndonesian police have arrested a 12-year-old boy for allegedly sexually assaulting or raping at least four of his playmates, including a four-year-old.
Adj. Comr. Danang Kuntadi, chief of detections with Slemen Police in Yogyakarta, told the Sindo newspaper that the sexual offending was revealed after one of the victims complained about genital pain.
Four victims, including the four-year-old, have so far been identified though the alleged offender has admitted to a total of six victims, Danang was quoted as saying.
The gender of the victims was not released.
Danang said medical examinations had revealed that the four identified victims had been either sexually assaulted or raped.
He said the suspect had also alleged that he himself was raped by an adult male two years ago.
“We are investigating his confession to sever the circle of molestation and prevent other children from being abused,” he told the daily.
Danang said that despite the boy’s age, he would be charged as an adult under the Child Protection Law, which carries heavy sentences.
“The legal process will go ahead but the court will take his age into consideration in arriving at the verdict,” he said. “We hope the court will send him to a rehabilitation center instead of prison.”
